During the 1982 Falklands War, a daring mission to attack Stanley airfield was conducted by the RAFs V-Force from Wideawake airfield in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Seven waves of the Vulcan and Victor aircraft flew over 3,000 nautical miles and needed to be refueled 14 times. In each wave, there were two Vulcan bombers and up to 11 Victor tankers to refuel them. The successful mission proved that Argentina was not too far away to get its arse kicked by the Royal Air Force.

Despite the pilots suffering many setbacks throughout the mission, they pressed on regardless!
